Craft Your SmartCV
So hello everyone. Uh I’m Aryan Miz. I am currently an next business leader here at Ramon. I completed my BBA from Institute of Business Administration, University of Dhaka with a major in finance. So um today I’m here to take a session on craftier smart CV because well um nowadays recruitment and jobs and everything have gotten really complex in the sense that we have so many people applying for the same role, right? and how to start to even write our resume. So and recruiters are also using
a lot of technology nowadays. So we should also be on on the yeah right bandwagon. So we can use smart tools maybe some AI tools to craft our resume session will be conducted. So without further ado let’s get started. So before we start I want to ask you a question. So how long do you think a recruiter spends on each CV? Because for example for even a junior post00 and they can see your CV. So uh I don’t know what you are guessing but but a recruiter looks at your CV for just 6 to 8 seconds. So we need to make
sure communication we have been able to convey right in this span of seconds. So here comes a fact why do we need CV or cover letter so your CV is your career trailer. So you can be a fresher you might not have any job experiences or anything. So that’s fine. Maybe you’re a student or maybe you have some some part-time job experiences or maybe you just got into a job you have one year of experience. Doesn’t matter. Whatever you have done to show your recruiter a trailer is your CV. So your CV will have
all of your skills, experience and qualification. And actually your CV is the bridge between you and the interview and the final job that you’re going to get. Right? So important. In the same way, cover letters are your personal pitch. recruiter recruiter, right? So, how would he know if you are the perfect candidate for this job? So, the cover letter which has your your want for the job, your need for the job and your perfect job fit meaning why you are the perfect candidate. So it gives you an advantage
over other candidates if you can portray this is why I’m the right person for this job and I this is why I’ll be best suited. So CV or cover letter difference before we move into the details of anything we need to understand the difference. So CV is actually just a snapshot of your career. So information based story. So it’s more personal, you know. So CV it’s basically you have a lot of information jobs that you’ve done. These are pretty similar and of course cover letter on the other hand
has to be really personal right it has to be tailored it has to be custom made and coveration to come to this job to um why do you want to join uh here right so CV and cover letter both are actually needed for your recruiter to understand this is the person that I want in my team. So now let’s dig deeper into CV. So contact info you put your name, your email, your phone, your LinkedIn prof. And if you do not have one, I would highly suggest you go and open one. Recruiter gets an impression of
what you’ve been doing, they can understand. So if you have a LinkedIn and you can link that to your CV, that’s good. And uh so these are your basic information. Now comes the profile summary. So you see focus summary of your career will be in this profile summary and it’s really important that you keep this short but very very factual to you because well suited candidate for this and letter China to write the profile summary. So there comes education. This is really important especially.
So this will be the highlight of my CV onlyerience right. So it will come last meaning you will go by let’s say HSC you’ll say HS and [Music] then levels. So you can mention the particular courses you have taken in your university. You mention your CGPA. This is something that is really important and recruiters look into it a lot because is a very summarized version of is attentive is he good at his the thing that is supposed to do. So mention is pretty important comes your job experience.
Again if you are a mro refresher so you don’t have any job experience and that’s completely fine. You can mention your part-time job experiences, right? So, any part-time job experiences that you have done during your university. It can be any volunteership you’ve done. And if you don’t have any job experience, that’s also fine. You might have done something like a volunteer ship or an internship with one of your teachers, some sort of projects. You can mention that as well. But
mainly you have to mention the role that you have taken, the skills that you have taken from there, the job role and the any sort of achievement you might have. But if you put an achievement there, they’ll understand fast because so far and there comes another section. And I would say number one, you have to put your skills down. communication presentation leadership capabilities you will be mentioning here. You’ll also be mentioning any sorts of business competition you’ve done, any sorts of uh university
competition you have won, any awards you’ve gotten, any certifications you have done. It can be anything, any sort of certification you’ve gotten relevant to the job, you can mention here. For example, any languages that you might know, of course, English, Banglad, that’s fine. You can mention your um proficiency level and if you know any other language even the proficiency level why because talking point for the interviewee or the recruiter basic level of soc they liked the fact it shows a lot of things. In the
similar way, you can also put down interest in here as well. Not mandatory at all. For talking points, you can put them here. So for an example if you look at the CV here you can see the things that I mentioned it is there. So for example contact info my name so he’s here and contact email LinkedIn these are there right a profile summary one thing you must do is you tailor it based on the job you’re applying toactly education. So you see more more of a priority and then work experience.
So I was an instructor I was working in 10 minutes school. So I mentioned all of those and experience mention we can also mention that. So one thing to notice You can see why just because interview viewer might like to talk to me about it and they did you know jobs actual fulltime experiences and we’ve had great discussions over my hobby and whatnot. So that’s also there. So a basic anatomy of a CV must do. So one of the must dos would be clean layout and no typos. Please this is red flag. You’re putting a CV out
there and so no typos is absolutely necessary. You might think but no we have to make sure I don’t know what tools we can use but this is something you should keep in mind the main important thing that I want to talk to you about action what you did result or impact situation, task, action and result. Same you can see. So let’s say organized and managed a successful road show for innovators with 200 plus attendees. Another session with 50 plus attendees. Try to quantify it as much as possible. Try to put it into numbers.
Recruiter do not have a lot of time. They want to see say you have done something. So another important point that I mentioned here use keywords from job description. You’ll see the job will match with you right but they will word it in a way that your CV doesn’t have. foreign keyword. So we’re looking for leadership qualities. If you have leadership qualities, obviously you will not lie on your CV. But if you do have leadership qualities, try to mention it on your CV. and most importantly keep it one to two
pages. Now there there is another uh format of CV. because for we don’t usually use pictures but rather we write the CV details ATS and the format that I’m showing right now and the previous format that I showed exactly also ATS friendly but is not acceptable by every um I would say organization and university style CV down the one that I’m showing right now. But Bangladeshi companies especially there are places CVs with pictures are also acceptable like the one that I showed earlier and these are also acceptable.
So I would say to be safe that is what I did to be safe after you understand from the job right might not go under vigorous checking through software the recruiter might check GitHub himself. So just to be safe, you can also use this format and they also they also mention you do that. So from this CV it is veryant. These are all there. If you can see that bullet points action verb. So you want to write each of your bullet points with action words. You can look it up. There are lot of action words
that you can find on Google. Just Google action bars for resume and you’ll find them. So try to use those words because again will improve your CV a lot more than other some other person and a clear heading score and certification. These are all uh things that I already talked about. So, so, so far these are the basic uh I would say overview on CV. So, a we’ll move into cover letter. So, before we move into that, I think I’ll take some questions. Objective important and how relevant it is to put objective and
interesting CV. So, you see objective what we mean by this is a summary of your CV. So objective of my career it’s more like the one that I showed you previously like this one you might mention your career objective you don’t need to write summary that’s not technically correct you can also write it there maybe but you can just put an heading down and write the summary there you can also mention your career objective sure but not in a way objective bullet points but more like summarized version
of your career object and interest as I already mentioned it is not mandatory more like if you have the space if you have the space it might be good for you to put your interest down because again it’s a talking point for the interviewers you know they interview you because questions based on these. So, okay, it’s it might be important. So, next question. I hope that answers your question. Next question. Will recruiters consider me if I don’t have LinkedIn ID? Of course, they’ll consider you. Um, it’s not a
crime to not have a LinkedIn ID. It’s just a better idea to have one. And because LinkedIn, if you are on LinkedIn, you’ll understand LinkedIn you get to do so many things like in fact I think you might go check it out so you get to build your network you get to showcase so it’s just a reference for the recruiter if it’s an online submission right so that’s why and also your way so That’s why it’s important. Is it mandatory to mention CGP and CV? Again, it’s not mandatory, but recruiters do
expect you to mention it because hardworking person through your CGPA that’s one thing that they will understand from and also some job there is a CGPA bar for example 3.0 at the bar you’ll have to admit that so it’s better if you also mention it on your CV as well uh but that is not the only thing they judge you on right if you have other experiences you if you have a lot to talk about that they’ll also uh see those it’s not your CGP only but it is good to have it on there you can mention
online business of course as your experience you mention it in a way it’s your company you are doing online business on your also you write online business what are the things you have to do the skills skills you had to have, the type of things you needed to do and what sort of achievement did you have. These are all perfectly acceptable experience. In fact, it’s even more impressive that you had your own online business. Okay. So, you are doing your masters and your results aren’t out yet.
So, what you can do is I assume you have the bachelor’s part and masters you can have your ongoing You can maybe do a star. So this is my current uh grade where to get best sample templates. Just Google it. you’ll find it like in fact I would say but most importantly you can just Google it and all of the templates are okay I think you have also there’s also so you can get idea as well so you’ll find templates everywhere Microsoft canv available template. So, can will non-paid internships be considered or
not? It will definitely be considered. You just put it under um extracurricular activities or volunteering or even experience as well. But it doesn’t matter paid nonpaid as long as you say what you did in there. Maybe it’s not your official full-time job, but you can certainly put it under experience by saying Right. Uh can we mention extracurricular activities? Of course you can. Of course you will. So for example any competitions that you do you put it under awards and certification. Any
clubs any sorts of clubs that you are a part of you put it under volunteering or extracurricular activities. Um any sorts of any sort of volunteering you do with some sort of NOS’s or social you help some social cause you put it under voluntary. So interest if you do something else you put it under interest. So extracurricular activities of course you’ll show it’s equally important education important job experience important equally important extra activity in fact extracurricular activity more
important. So the CV format you showed I dropped the same format and they said it was an old format and how much does CV format matter? Similar question the format you showed is it ATS friendly? I think it is not an old format more like Harvard format this is acceptable everywhere and is acceptable in certain scenarios and certain cases it’s not so it’s better to be safe but they prefer you know your picture CV so in that case you might go with that one and as I said this is definitely ATS friendly can be
made ATS friendly because ATS friendly means you have the keywords down you have it in a certain structure. So if you can do that on that kind of CV as well it will be friendly but to be safe would be a safer option but is also another temporary as I said if you are applying for part-time jobs extracurricular things volunteering perfectly fine as when you are university it’s it’s fine but it would be more appropriate for full-time uh roles that you apply if my educational qualification is low but I have good
skills how do I arrange my CV if you are fresher, your education will still come first because you’re fresher. That means you’re not you’re not supposed to be doing any sorts of full-time job right now. So, education will come first. However, you don’t have to spend much time on it. you just say you focus more on those because right unique selling proposition so you spend more on those so I hope that was helpful I think for question we’ll take it after the second part of the session so we’ll talk
about cover letters so cover letter as we already talked talked about it. Cover letters are key basically sort of like application to the recruiter. I want to work here. Why I want to work here? But they will mention if you need to give one and they just need the resume. Golden rule for cover letters. One hook the recruiters. This is really important. Whatever you write in your cover letter, it is interesting enough to catch the attention of the uh recruiter because they as I mentioned earlier to look at a CV or a cover
letter, they don’t have time to read through all of your paragraphs and whatever you are saying. So you need to write it in a way that it hooks. You might tell me because lot of people will have different types of idea. For example, I might go by saying that it is a personal connection, emotional connection that our family tends to have. personal connection to our company. That means she really values what we do here. This is hooking the recruiter. You might do it some other way. I’m sure you have
a lot of ideas on how to do it. And you can also read up on this re research on this YouTube [Music] videos. Be purposeful. So since you have a whole page, you might think I will just write my life on here. purposefully meaning. So this is what being purposeful means and you have to use a simple format. So um lots of time I’ll see cover letters. Let’s say for example please review it a bit. So you have to use a simple format so that recruiters get the understanding. So Let’s look at
structure. So there will be obviously first dates and a salutation like hello or hello sir ma’am or the recruiter post. You can give whatever you want. Title the opening paragraph. to say what job you applying for you mention I was interested in this role by seeing this because this this this you know you mention here middle paragraph you say what experiences you have what skills you have and what cultural fit you have with the organization this is really really important because companies nowadays
they are not just for um just for you to come and do the job like a robot. They want you to be culturally fit. They want you to go with the company in a way. You have to somehow communicate through the cover letter. And of course, closing you sum it all up and you say something like u so I hope I will be considered for this position or I hope I’ll get to see you very soon in in a professional wording of course. Um so you mentioned it again J these were my um these were my vision for my career
and this is how you’re fulfilling that vision and this is why I like your company and that’s why I want to work here. So there is a very nice simple formatted uh CV. So you see it’s messed up very clean and I’m not saying you have to use it like that. Of course not. This is an example. job description. I found all of these um uh little little keywords and I believe I am the looking for me. So every middle paragraph you see they’re saying the experiences they have gained and the
persona they have done and what was his major what did he do there you know all of the evidences of the skills of the experiences and why he will be a cultural fit as well because he has also worked in actively participated in race for cure breast cancer. So it means what social skill socially aware. All right. And also lastly, okay, but you can be humble about it as well. You can say, I hope you consider me for the position. I’ll be looking forward to your response. you finish the cover letter.
So now we talked about CV, we talked about cover letter. Um so I will just talk about some common mistakes that we should avoid. So you have to see your CV cannot be pages full of textulences. It’s a phrase. It’s not a sentence. In the same way, it has to be so that they understand you have ownership responsibility and another very important thing. You have to update your CV every time you apply for a job. You are writing a summary of yourself. In any case, outdated information. Does this mean you will lie
on your CV? Absolutely not. Whatever you have done, whatever experiences you have, you write your CV. But you write it well. you write it keeping it updated and um so if I meant to talk about cover letter so you try to make it personal you try to say you understand you’re writing to the recruiter right so think about So you write it like that. Copy pasting from CV. This is something that people do a lot. mention cover letter is something more personal. So you have to craft it, you have to edit it and customize it. It has to be
your passion, your motivation. You don’t get to do that, right? only get to talk about you get to talk about and also talking only about yourself not the company. This is a big no no. Uh I’m sure you guys will understand from all everything I’ve said it’s really important that you make that company like coordination between you and the company. So you have to mention yourself but you also have to mention the company. So I think uh I’ll stop and take some questions. We’ll uh look into some details on the
uh how to we can we can use tools right so someone asked if I have multiple experiences how should I deal with it in my CV right as I uh was showing you let’s go back to that CV if you want right you see education have also shown education experience but that’s fine You don’t necessarily have to do it like this. You can do it like this. Work experience under it. You mention the company that you worked in. You mention the role that you worked in and then you give all those action bullet points. You say these are the
things I have done. You can have multiple experiences. You have to put in last [Music] basically. So for examp you can deal with multiple experiences right there is a question if I don’t have any job experiences I have fieldwork experience where do I put it right so your fieldwork experience is somewhat like a job experience right uh It would be [Music] better but from what I understand this is still an experience be that job experience or not. So you can totally call it fieldwork experiences or call
it extra or just call it experience. Why not just call it experience experience and you mention fieldwork that’s it because to make recruiter understand so you can put that do I put is score and where to put it of course you put is score if you have one if you have a good one now you put your score if you want to you do it under I would say certifications and achievements as I mentioned awards certification achievements it comes uh in the letter part of your CV Harvard CV format. Do I need to put
photo? No, that is the Harvard CV format where you don’t put photo. That is the format of the CV and Harvard for premium version. Is there any other way to get it? I can assure you. I can’t assure you, but I’m pretty sure. But simple system it does not get any easier than this. Microsoft free. It’s just Microsoft template and there is this Reddit site as well. If you if you just type in Harvard template first so you can Google it, you can get it from Microsoft. I think I think there
is it but I can I can’t be 100% sure but I think I’ve seen it. Do I need to mention objectives for my extracurricular or club activities? Well, no, because CV want to keep it short. absolute no. So what we do? We just write so I might write. So I was part of IBC communication club. I might write J I organized this cultural event and uh it had with let’s say 200 plus participants and let’s say anything that’s it if you can show the actionable results quantifiable results. Okay. So
what to focus on more if I want to apply for several positions in different organizations. So I am assuming you’re talking about companies after your graduation, right? But so for example grammar for so you’re applying for grammar. So you will focus on a mix of two things. One will be your education of course currently fresher. So they are going to see how you did. To them you’re still a fresher. you just completed your education. So that is important. At the same time, you also must have some sort of experience. It
doesn’t have to be a paid job. It can be a volunteer experience. It can be extracurricular you have done through your four or five years of university life. Recruiter will also understand if you have certain skills, if you have cultural fit. So you focus on these two things. Um if you want to apply for organizations if someone wanted to go to higher studies they will not focus on job experiences stay in line they will apply focus more on research papers they have done thesis they have done they have
done these courses and these assignments right but for corporations and I think I think you mean corporates I’m not sure for question if it is about corporates talit yes um you uh you focus on both of these things, education and your experience. However, if you’re not a fresher, even one year of experience, you can focus on both of these things and you are moving to an organization. Of course, your experience is more important now than your education. So, you put that maybe you put your
education part and experience that is one way to emphasize. You write more about your experience and less about your education. That’s another way to emphasize education. For example, you might write you just write your university maybe HC because you have worked already for two three years. So now your experience is more important. So as I said you have to tailor fit it for every job. Okay. So do I need to make separate CVs based on the job? I think I’ve already answered this but I’ll go ahead and answer it again. Um
you have to customize it. You don’t have to make like a whole new CV of course but you have to customize it sometimes. for rich man’s problem. sort of different for example you’re applying for this system engineering role so you don’t need to put uh some sort of a I don’t know some sort of a cultural role that you did previously but some sort of a social coordinator of course you can also mention it in the [Music] sense but if you have too many of them you tailor it based on the job
description based on whatever the job wants you mix and match can I cover letter in email when I send the resume. You can, but you don’t need to. If you did, if they didn’t ask for it and they have sort of like a place to drop, you’re just dropping it. No need. If they tell you to email your resume, it might be a good answer to write something in the email body, right? You cannot just send a resume. You have to write something. So, you can write the cover letter in that body. Right. And your cover letter is being
asked for. You make a file, a doc file or a PDF file and you attach the files. You don’t just write the cover letter in the body. It’s specifically asking for your cover letter. So I think I’ll move forward to the next section and question. I’ll ask you to keep it for the end of the session. So session I’ll take this question. So cover letter is done. So how AI can help? So AI or let’s say technological because we have limited time in the sense you have to keep a lot of things
in mind. So you cannot spendul there is no way you’ll gain efficiency right so AI can actually help by saving your time AI is really great in helping you write those weak points in your strong ones for example you know you’ve done a parttime job you know you are program coordinator for this event but you don’t know how to say you know But I know the numbers. He has the numbers. But this is where you can take help of tools. Match to job description. This is also important. You can do that through
some tools. you can match tools and of course I would say most importantly it can spot really silly grammar mistakes and any clarity issues it’s not it doesn’t have clarity so it can make your sentence restructure in a way recruiters find it very easy to read and understand they can use this goes for every tool that I have personally researched on the internet because it’s behind that should not stop you because that didn’t stop meandom Of course, because as we know students, we don’t we can’t really
afford all the things that they want from us, right? So, but these are some great tools that you can use. So for example um so what you can do this is really really really helpful for uh when you have your texts your roles and jobs that you did but you don’t know how to write that bullet [Music] letter. So you can see from there how it can help. However paid version is a problem as we know. So unpaid version can do a lot of stuff. So that’s fine. So there are some other things I mentioned Jetty Flow CV there. These are
some websites one is you can put your previous CV. Maybe you have a CV already built. It checks it for you. It reorganizes it for you or you can also put your data. Um like point a you just type in the information your name your skill that you did everything. H but these are only free for one CV per mail and unfortunately this is how it is but you can do you know you’re smart you know what to do you can do multiple so so Grammarly you have already obviously used Grammarly I’m just mentioning it
here again because those little grammar mistakes just don’t have them just use Grammarly Canva Canva is a great tool In fact, you can get a lot of templates. You can also make a lot of templates. It can be the Harvard template one. It can be the picture one. You can do any of these and in fact you can also look check it out. and job. This is also great is not applicable for Bangladesh or like let’s say for so one live demo that we can do is we try to understand So I mean I’ll just go
ahead. So let’s say so there are some prompts that I’ve put on the slides. You can have a look later. So for example uh let me know. So let for example uh I have I have organized an event. So I have organized event to detail. It was like it was for my uni and you think that the 200 you think now you you get the information for someone 200 partyipants were there. I was the moderator. Now you give the prompt. J reite this bullet to show measurable impact [Music] for let’s see what details
see action moderated I university event I university so I could have said you know with 200 participants ensuring smooth flow of session and engaging audience interaction contributing to a 95% positive feedback rate now it positive feedback. So charitivity will sometimes make things on their own but you do not take everything you only take applicable. If you can somehow say maybe because a lot of people said so it depends. So you see and you basically take that bullet point. So moderate detection could be
important. So I have put some more prompts for you. You have a look at these. You can make rewrite your bullet in a way. So make this bullet more formal and action oriented. tailor this CV to a job description for dash position. See, you can even say tailor this CV when you upload the CV and you say and write it as a paste it as a text. Generate three variations of the CV bullet. So again you can generate a lot of bullets even let’s have a look. So see different because we don’t want to copy
paste. We want to get an understanding. This is just plain wrong. If you guys do it again, AI check is not 100% bulletproof as of now. It’s not foolproof, but it’s it’s it’s not ideal also maybe. So you get some variations goes more with actually what you have done. So you pick something from here. So this is how chat dB can help us. So now we have drop right. So I’ll go to the website. You can see um it’s it’s literally you just search job with my email. I didn’t need an
account because as I said if I need it somewhere down the line I’ll just open another email or I’ll do something else in sign in. I want to see. You can paste the resume as text or you can upload the resume. Anyway, you drag and drop your CV or you just the text and you’ll [Music] description before maybe before right. So let’s see this is my description. So you can have a look into it. So I’ll just take these. [Music] Don’t look at that. What? [Music] So, this is the job
description. So, I’m going to press on scan and it’s going to scan. Take it with a grain of salt. Okay, not bad. 70% not bad. Now, you might think How come it’s not 100%. Well, AI tools, they’re not perfectly accurate. Again, adding these jobs and web address can help us. These are all checked based on practice summary. They have found a summary in my resume. So that’s good. They have found education work. They found them all. Job title match as a strategic assistant I’m eager
to go into a business and opportunity of next business leader. See I mentioned the title. So for this title match description education file type this is really important. recruiter will get resumes that says final final final draft resume one professional it’s not so before you upload your resume please make sure it says just your name maybe hyphen their resume or CV that’s it nothing else no final final draft no 2024 for GP This is just wrong. Learning objectives learning objectives for professional development cannot be a
skill, right? This is not a skill. and your score will automatically improve because you have said them told them similarly professional development is not a skill. So again you can report it I might just get 100%. But management literally just aversine. So no specific years of experiences were found. Maybe that’s something I can work on. Maybe I could have could mention. So um so measurable results resume web presence. So that’s why is good. We don’t need these. Is it good or not? So that’s what
job does. Sort of like a CV build. Um I’ll just give you an example. less than two years working. So need help choosing a template. You can choose a template here. However, for example, existing. So choose later for now. Are you uploading? So now do this one. So next, drag and drop a file here. Let’s say I drop a file. I drop my resume. Next. What brought you here today? Check what the J4 is and quality. Okay, so they’re finding some good stuff. So let’s say high. Okay, so they say I have a lot
of it’s all good. Okay. So they are giving you options. You look through these edit. So, you can edit it if you want. You can This is where you say obviously skills. Um skills agent they are showing you a lot of recommended skills here can based on the job title. So, but I just don’t know. They suggesting me a lot of stuff that I can use. You can also enhance it with AI. If you press it, you can also choose one of the skills and you can see and tell So you can check one of these test is written here. So they’re also
recommending some templates. This is sort of like sort of like that. So you can get a lot of idea. You don’t you don’t copy that. You look at it and you edit it based on expert recommendation extra sections if you have certifications languages accomplishments hobbies I have won violin playing so so looking good so this is optimized and this is good so let’s finalize so this is my finished resume so this looks like one of those Canva templates because I chose one of those Canva templates from
here. You’ll also get those Harvard templates as well. So you can choose and if you needed to add something last moment you can do that just click just you do it and then you press download but basically you get the idea you have a CV now for an existing in the same way you can create a CV from the scatch you just start one and then you do it you get my idea Um okay so uh I have just a final slide before everything else. This is really important to me and I hope to you but please make sure that you don’t
copy paste without checking you out. Okay. Good. No generic robotic tones this team manage this team not. So you have to customize it based on and over dependence on tools. You cannot be dependent on tools only. because AI is not going to know AI is not going to be like you did this. That’s only me. I can only I can say that. So you have to use it as a co-riter not a replacement. So Samo said for full-time job should I go for ATS friendly or Harvard format or 3070 format? So it depend but I would
say to be safe you can go for the Harvard format we also add summaries Harvard formatting you will not find summaries you can put section there so you can do that um some it might be that one but to be safe you can just do the Harvard format one someone said as a fresher if I have no experience what should I include in my CV So but I’ll read it again. If you are a fresher who have no who has no experience what you do is you focus on your education part. So and trust me you have some sort of experience you think
that you don’t but for your education you had to do some projects you had to do some assignments you write those you have extensively worked on you and also some extracurricular activities any competition you participated in, you don’t even have to win. You just have to participate, um any voluntary experiences you have participated in, any extracurriculars you have done, any certifications you take, anything works. Just put those on there in a nice way using AI maybe uh from your brain as well of course um
Jedi hook, but this is how you do it. So um should I add research experience in my CV? This is more relevant for people who are going for higher studies rather than corporate app like original. If you’re going for higher studies and such of course your research experience is the most important one. If you’re applying for corporate it I would say still important in the sense that you can put it under your education that gives a talking point to the interviewer number one. Number two that gives a sort
of a signal that this person has done has experiences they have done things. So uh research experience you can mention but highlight. So is cover letter mandatory absolutely not. Truth be told, most of these job applications these are done Facebook. Of course, it’s might be nice to write something on the body because it’s just rude. You can give sort of like a cover letter but it’s not mandatory. Okay. So industrial attachment experience yes it’s part of your education if I’m not wrong sorry I’m not
a STEM background so correct me if I’m wrong but I think education and you can definitely add that because that’s an experience you had for example of people so they’re coming here they’re learning a lot of So valuable experience and the company you’re applying for if you did an industry there even more talking points for the recruiter right so he has a lot of he knows a lot of things about my company has a lot of things to say maybe he has some suggestions for our company so of course
he’ll mention that so mention it under education or maybe under some sort of experience as well science people will know better than ab girl but yeah can a e certificate add value to CV you can obviously because I e certificates are the primary source of certificates if I’m not wrong so courses that you do of course you cannot put every courses on here basics on excel however relevant plus it’s a certification or a specialization is done you can mention it under certifications Of course. So you just
you just mention it and data online. You can link the certificate as well. Can I present tution experience and CV and how? Um no because formal channel of experience. Now however you can say in your interview and such how you have mentored people and if you have mentored people through a professional institution then you can mention it. So definitely on the other hand it’s not but you talk about it in your interview and such. So can I add soft skills in CV like communication leadership? Of course
you can and of course you will because I already mentioned skills is if you have seen the presentation you would know the skills was actually a part of the anatomy of a CV. So skills of course you mention it technical skills soft skills you mention it. In fact soft skills are becoming even more important than technical skills for recruiters statistics but soft skills are equally important now as technical skills. Of course you mention it because recruiters will catch on that they will ask you uh you’ll have to
defend your skills by sharing examples. So you will of course say whatever is actually there. Um should I ask customer service experience for HR position? Of course customer service experience means what? You work with people. So that means you have collaboration experiences. You have you know how to manage people you know how to talk to people that is something of course is needed in every department including and obviously natur of course mention that h irrelevant course mention but we definitely don’t want that
And I remember I think final interview since I have my courses mentioned on here. Finance courses. was finance but other roles have applied to they don’t need they need they want to know me so uh that if someone has done many business competitions uh what is more important quantity or quality? If you have done a lot of business competitions for you it’s quality only mention the ones you have gotten podium or you’ve been in the finals. If you are someone you can go ahead and mention the
ones you’ve done because nothing to lose. Maybe they’ll be like, “Hey, maybe they’ll be like, you get it?” But if you have a lot, why would you go and talk about every single thing? So, you just talk about the ones you got first, second, third or final. Can I add reference my relative? Can I add reference? Can I add my relative as reference even if I didn’t work under him? H reference actor has to be has to be it doesn’t have to be but it’s better the last job or the last professional
experience you’ve had your manager or it has to be one of your references. Why? Because they’ll say hm this is where you last worked at. So that means what? This is your most recent self. This is who you were just before applying here. How you were, right? So that’s one. Another would be your teacher or someone who knows you in a professional point of view, your relative if you haven’t worked with him. How would he tell? He might tell also you need your teachers because they will tell
you you might put someone. So you put him as a reference but not a relative. Uh so so that’s my answer. I would say reference is delay. You go it like that question. I think this will be the last question I take. Um so let’s go ahead and see what the question is. So I am doing work in business section but I want to change to sales. How should I link my business experience with sales? Right. Interesting question. So I’m not sure business section what you mean it would have been nice but so business section and sales
section both of these things have some similarities in the work process do they not are all the time. So you can definitely mention your business experience in a way recruiters understandable transferable skill is really important. That is what recruiter wants to know right mention it on your CV soft skills you mention all the skills you’ve gathered from business which you also think is relevant to sales and hey you can just take help from you also ask that question they’ll tell the same thing of
course but they’ll tell you the same So you mentioned those very much. You also mentioned business recruiter will understand from it. Whatever work you do, you’re very dedicated in it. You are hardworking. You change numbers. You get those numbers. And also you’ll write something about how you why you want to go to sales in your summary. and you’ll mention some skills and you’re good to go. Hopefully, I think that’s it. It was really nice having you guys here. So many of you already know about
academy you have come through it and so once again academy is a youth upskilling platform the link is www.garphone.academy academy and I hope it was a fruitful session for you guys. I really liked the questions that I got. It was very interesting. Um I hope it was helpful for you guys as well. Just remember in the end it has to be you going to be you right you. So just have confidence but at the same time take help from tools and such. So that’s it. Thank you for uh joining in and listening to me and I
hope you have a great time ahead. I love you.
